Jan has been writing about and living an organic lifestyle for 15 years. Her "Pure" column published in a local print magazine drew a large and loyal following. After print faded she published it as Food Products on BirminghamRestaurants.com.
In 2023 Jan started her SubStack, which is found at BirminghamFoodies.com, to continue her organic byline. This monthly column led to her loyal readers and food professionals asking her advice on micro plastics, seed oils, and GMOs and how to purge them from their home kitchens. And her answers have led to changes in restaurant kitchens and packaging changes of local products.
In 2026 Clean Cooking became the home for her organic cooking and writing, and as a free resource for her readers.
